Results Week: Week of 4/21-4/27

This felt like a great week of couponing!! Sunday I was able to get my Target bag and did an excellent couponing trip!!  I headed over to Walgreens that day and did a great job there.  Luckily, I noticed the mistake on the last transaction.  Somehow it didn't give me the sale price or the Balance Points.  So I readjusted the last transaction.  It won't make much sense, but that is the math I figured out.  Then  a day or two later to CVS, Target, and Rite Aid.  CVS trip went amazingly well!  Rite Aid sales were a huge disappointment.   Then my second trip to Target was okay, but I wasn't thrilled my phone internet decided not to work and I couldn't get the deals that I would have with the mobile coupons.  Hopefully I can go back and get them some other time before they expire!

Couponing Tip:  One of the biggest mistakes beginning coupons do is not pacing themselves.  They get the thrill of the deals and then before they know it they are chasing every deal out there.  Not that it's a bad thing, but it's not great!  In the long run you are going to end up burning out.  After you burn out, you can lose interest in couponing and end up not saving anything whatsoever!  So it commit yourself to complete savings in your life, pace yourself and you deals.  To begin, choose one grocery store, drugstore, and supercenter and only go ONCE!  Unless you feel like you want to only do one, then commit yourself to that store until you master their couponing policies and go forward!  So my tip for this week is pace yourself and avoid the burnout!

Results Week: Week of 4/14-4/20

Monday morning, I hit CVS & Rite Aid on my way to join up my son's class, which was on a field trip.  Rite Aid didn't have the Diabetic Meter I was after and I almost had a heart attack at CVS.  My list became screwed up because other couponers raided the shelves on Sunday!  That messed me up because I had to grab some items, as in razors, at a higher price ranger than I was planning.  Before coupons, the cashier rung up my order and I saw the total at $50.  I was panicking thinking I majorly screwed up my transaction.  Thanks for a 20% off coupon, beauty bucks, and the B1G1 Venus Coupons taking the complete $11.99 off (score!), my total was lower than I originally figured!  Whew!  I wanted to go back this week, but I never found myself walking into any store!! Dang!!  I just tell myself next week, I am heading to Target to make up for it!

Couponing Tip: Have you ever heard of the Endorse app?  This is my most favorite app.  It's better than Ibotta in my eyes!  Endorse doesn't matter where you bought the items as long as you have receipt!  Even better, they give you a percentage back on what you paid out of pocket.  They take the product's price and the coupons you used, then give you the money.  You can get it back by either check or PayPal. It updates every Thursday!  There are some things you even get 100% back on!!  So please check out this really awesome app!  You won't be disappointed.

Results Week: 4/7-4/13

This week there was a lot of really great deals.  However, I didn't snag a whole lot of them this week.  They either were something I wasn't interested in or the store didn't have the product.  I did my weekly small grocery shopping at Weis to find some hair clips on clearance.  I snagged up two packs!  Then I went to CVS to find that my local store didn't get in the Brookside Chocolate that would've been free after reward.  I was also disappointed that I didn't get the 20% off e-mail.  If I did, I would have only spent $0.09 for everything!! Then I went to Rite Aid and they were out of stock on the Bic Razor moneymaker deal.  I was wanting to leave, but I had $10.00 +Up Rewards that expired that day, so I had to freestyle!! Didn't turn out bad at all!  If you are near the Everett, PA Rite Aid, they have a ton of Easter items at 75% off!  Thought I'd throw that out there!  Since my week seemed a bit daunting, I was happy to snag items that were on the higher end retail price wise for basically nothing!! I was glad to grab the Dr. Scholl's, DermaSilk, and Sally Hansen Deals!

Couponing Tip:  Couponers and Couponing seems to have so many misconceptions!!  Beginners seem to have TLC's Extreme Couponers in their head.  First off, wipe out that image!  That is not what a true extreme couponer is!  Extreme Couponers buy within their household limits.  Yes, they have a stockpile, but not one that would qualify them for an episode of hoarders!  They slowly stockup by only buying items at extremely low prices!! This is what I do with My Coupon Journey and I hope this is what you are learning along the way.  You don't need dozens of hundreds of inserts!  You only need a couple to get the job done! I buy for a family of four and if I get items that I don't use because they are free or moneymakers, I donate them or give them to someone!  Another image you need to wipe out of your head is that you will not get everything for free or close to free!! Somethings just don't work that way!  I hope this helps wipe out those mental ideas of what extreme couponers are!

Results Week: Week of 3/31-4/6

What an exciting week!! I got invited back to Central PA Live and personally think I did such a better job compared to last time!  I learn so much about Live TV!!  This week there were so many great deals at all location this week!  This was the week to stockup on your mouthwash, battery powered toothbrushes, and Dawn Dish Liquid!  Plus there was many freebies happening too!!  I was excited to be able to go to Walgreens and Target this week!  Walgreens we had a tiny dispute over mislabeling, but they saw I was correct and got my money back for the difference!  I also was excited to be able to use my high value John Freida coupons (I got in the mail) there too!  Target was awesome because I found coupons laying by the Downy that were of high value that was expiring the day I couponed!! I helped myself to them, stacked a Target coupon with them, and got a great deal!  Then I went to Rite Aid and CVS!  I was happy with free Shampoo at CVS, plus I got $1.50 Extrabucks for my Winter Rewards.  So that made my total cheaper!! I also had a great time getting a few deals at Rite Aid!

Results Week 3/31-4/6

Couponing Tip: On TV this week, I gave out couponing tips.  One that I didn't cover is how to be a Courteous Couponer!!  Couponers already come with this stigma about them.  They are poor, rude, and cheap.  While one outta two are true (the cheap one, duh!), there are a few pointers I would like to give out. If you are going to buy a large quantity, call the store and order ahead.  That way you are getting your items without ruining it for others.  Shop in the beginning of the week and during off-peak hours.  That way you aren't holding up others and doing it in the beginning of the week ensures getting items. Share your coupons with others!! If you have a coupon expiring and seeing another person buying that item, give it to them!  And as always, be show courtesy to other customers and to the employees.  If you shop there week, the employees will get a certain impression of you and this helps out whenever you run into a couponing issue.  If you give them a great impression, employees are more willing to help you and even share unadvertised deals!

Results Week: Week of 3/24-3/30

This week I ventured into Rite Aid, CVS, and Weis.  First off, I bet I wasn't the only excited person to be paying under $1.00 at two different locations for laundry detergent!  Woot!!  Secondly, I want to mention that if you notice when you coupon, usually you have to be quick on your feet, especially at drugstores if everything on your list isn't there.  This happened a Rite Aid this week.  They were rearranging the Easter Candy section, getting ready for the summer items to go out, and that made me not get the almost free Mars Candy Bags.  Then my excitement for the Schick Hydro Silk Razor deal went south really quick when I noticed there wasn't any type of that brand anywhere in the store.  They were ALL gone!  I needed that transaction to make it work and not only that, it was a huge moneymaker.  So I stood there in the middle of the aisle figuring out a new plan!  I did one, but not the way I wanted. I ended up walking out of Rite Aid spending a little more and with less +up rewards than planned.  Depressing!  Overall though, it was a great week for couponing!  Cheap detergent, more razors that never expire, and got myself some Physician's Formula!! Life is Good!!

Couponing Tip: Be a good couponer, don't clear the shelves!! Yes it's a great deal and yes it's free, but do you really really need 20 boxes of the same cereal?  Are you even going to use it before the expiration date?  This is one of the things that irks me about couponers or newer ones.  They feel they are compelled to clear the shelves.  Now if there are four items and you have four coupons, that is a different story.  I am talking about a complete full shelve of product. If you have to have 20 boxes of that cereal, be courtesy and call the store and get them to order you some.  If they add it to the order, they are able to have enough for everyone!!

Results Week: Week of 3/17-3/23

I went on a coupon frenzy this week!!  I went and grabbed some great toy deals for my kids for Easter plus a little more.  I went into this knowing I was going over my $20 limit this week, but sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do!  My haul was so big, I had to change the location of my usual picture spot!! This week I hit up Rite Aid, Target, Walmart, and CVS.  Funny story though, I went to a bigger city area to do my shopping this week.  For the first time ever, I decided to use my phone navigation to find a Rite Aid.  That will my first and last time I go into there.  I walked into a 1980's version of Rite Aid.  Then I found out quick they didn't carry my items I needed or they were very out of them (as in they need to get a truck, or two, or three in bad).  So I paid everything out of pocket, which made my total for this week a bit more, then I went to my usually home-base Rite Aid.  I was so happy to walk into my normal setting.  I have a small Rite Aid near my home and I won't complain about it like I use to!  I appreciate it a little more now!!  I also went to their Walmart, where I had a male foreigner as a cashier who was absolutely clueless about coupons.  So instead of paying $1.10 for more products, he refused my printable coupons because they wouldn't scan and I ended up paying a bit more.  I was a bit frustrated because they were huge overage moneymakers!  I won't even tell you the beginning of the horror story!  Next time I go to that Walmart, I am avoiding his register! I loved their CVS down there!  It's a bit on the bigger side and I walked in when they were putting their truck away, which meant I got everything and then some on my list!  Of course, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Target!!!  I always pay more out of pocket there it seems because I get those gift cards back, which ends up making it totally worth it!  I also got more items this week that were free or moneymakers that I will be donating soon!!

Couponing Tip: Don't be throwing away those tons of coupons you don't use when they expire!! Instead donate them!! Did you know that our military and their families can use coupons up to 6 months past their expiration date?  This program is called Coups for Troops.  It's a great program and it helps out families for those who protect us with their lives!!  Nothing than that is a greater feeling.  For more information on how you can do this, the information is one of Coupon Preview page on the left side.

Results Week: Week of 3/10-3/16

There was many great deals this week!! I hit up Rite Aid twice, CVS, and Weis this week.  Rite Aid, I was a bit frustrated my first visit, the Poise raincheck didn't go as excepted. Though I had coupons making it free and getting $5.98 +Up Rewards back, they just deducted the rewards from the sale price and gave it to me free anyways. I shouldn't complain because I will be donating all the Poise I end up buying.  Then I found out the UTZ monthly deal isn't in my region!! Darn!!  I however, was excited to buy some of the Snapware.  Though I love couponing, it is refreshing to coupon for something different once in a while.  I also bought two more Mr. Potatohead Notebooks.  These are perfect for my kids when we make our 8 hour vacation drive in June!  This should entertain them for a little bit! I also think I got way too much junk food this week too!  I guess the kids will have much of it in their Easter Basket and as always, Mommy & Daddy can help limit the sugar intake ;).  CVS was fun too!  The magic machine made my day when the Almay coupon printed, since Almay was on my list and of course the 20% off!! Happy girl here!  Weis had many great deals food and non-food this week.  I just got two different products because I liked where their prices were at!!  I also hit Rite Aid a second time to take advantage of the St Joseph Monthly Deal.  That is a pure moneymaker and a bigger one if you are Gold Status!!  Since there is more than one limit, I am tempted to do it again, but would anyone need any aspirin? I think a box of donations might be in store in the near future

Couponing Tips: Donate!! As a couponer, I love getting freebies and moneymakers, but sometimes they are products I don't use!!  I usually strongly urge for you to buy within your family means and uses, I also want to stress the importance of giving!!  I feel that couponing is a gift.  Not everyone has the time, patience, or even the understanding of coupons.  I feel because I can do this and it has helped my family out tremendously  you should do it also. Ask local churches and food banks what you can and can't donate.  Even some nursing homes take in donations!  I like to do it when I think I have too much of a product that I might not use in time.  Though I try not to do it, sometimes I overstock!  Last year, I ended up either getting free or making money of diabetic meters.  I was able to donate to family members that are diabetic in need of a new meter and also to a local church! There are so many way to contribute and I feel this is one way!  There isn't a better feeling than helping someone out!
